The history of Jakubowski GmbH

History

1962 Foundation of the contract spraying shop by Josef Jakubowski

  • Josef Jakubowski gained his first valuable experience in a spray shop.
  • He founded the Josef Jakubowski plastic injection molding company in a garage, equipped with nothing more than a single manual machine. In the early years, he only looked after 2-3 customers who provided him with the material and tools.

1976 Development, manufacture & distribution of wheels & castors

  • Josef Jakubowski initially manufactured everything in the contract spraying shop according to the individual wishes of his customers. Over time, he began to develop his own products such as wheels, castors and rims. Through the mediation of Peter Jakubowski, Josef Jakubowski was finally able to gain a key business partner, which led to the first major orders for castors.
  • From this point onwards, the materials and tools were no longer provided by the customers; instead, the company itself took over the production of the tools, which were developed and built by Gerd Jakubowski.

  • Thanks to Josef Jakubowski Kunststoffspritzerei’s growing reputation in the industry, the company was able to acquire more and more customers and orders. The products previously manufactured in the contract injection molding shop receded into the background and were eventually discontinued completely in order to focus entirely on the new, more successful products.

1978 First building (production)

1982 Entry of the first son Gerd Reiner Jakubowski

  • The arrival of Gerd Jakubowski marks the beginning of the second generation in the family business.

  • Gerd Jakubowski took on a variety of tasks within the company: He rebuilt machines, assisted with reworking, acquired new customers and designed the necessary tools. With the growing success of the company, the first setter was hired and 3 temporary employees were added to support the reworking department.

1986 Foundation of Kunststoffspritzerei Jakubowski GmbH in Halver

  • The GmbH was founded by Josef Jakubowski, Margot Jakubowski, Gerd Jakubowski and Peter Jakubowski.
  • The first PC for invoicing was also purchased during this time, an important step towards digitizing the business.

1988 First extension

1990 Second son Peter Jakubowski joins the company

  • Peter Jakubowski joined the company as managing partner, where he took over responsibility for invoicing, provided support in reworking and actively acquired customers.

  • Gerd Jakubowski, on the other hand, concentrated on the machines and the maintenance of the molds, making a decisive contribution to the technical development of the company.

2000 Construction of the silo

  • In 2000, Jakubowski Kunststoffspritzerei GmbH decided to purchase an outdoor silo in order to meet the constantly increasing demand for materials and to efficiently store larger quantities of raw materials, in particular plastic granulate.
